Established in 2008 by Kerry Stacey, we are 100% Australian family owned and operated business, with almost two decades of experience in the off-road hybrid campers and caravan industry.
Over the past 17 years we have invested significantly in our designs, development and partnerships, both here in Australia and abroad.
Our commitment is to deliver a premium product that caters to both the first-time campers and seasoned enthusiasts alike, at accessible prices to all Australian families. At SWAG, we’ve earned a reputation for being a quality manufacturer offering the best Camper packages in Australia.
Welcome to SWAG Camper Trailers, where the destination is as important as the journey.
Did you know that over 50% of all caravans sold in Australia are now imported? In fact, a staggering 90% of products installed in all Australian-made caravans are manufactured overseas and imported.
At SWAG Camper Trailers we don’t conceal the fact that our campers, hybrids and off-road caravans are partially constructed and imported from China. But it’s what we do before construction commences and after the chassis and frames arrive in Australia that sets us apart from other manufacturers.
To ensure SWAG stays relevant and competitive in this ever-changing industry, the decision was made to transition the business to what’s referred to as “Second-stage Controlled Manufacturing”.
Buying a hybrid or off-road caravan is exciting. However, considering the significant investment involved, it’s important to approach the purchase thoughtfully. Regardless of whether you are spending $40,000 or $130,000, taking your time is key to making a well-informed decision.
Before you plan your next trip along our beautiful australian coastline, or across the spectacular red centre, plan your purchase first. These tips are here to assist you in avoiding common purchasing mistakes, making your buying experience a successful one.
Kerry Stacey established SWAG Camper Trailers in 2008. Kerry is still the owner and you can see him around the Sunshine Coast workshop most days. He’s proud that SWAG Camper Trailers is still 100% Australian family owned and operated.
SWAG is a National Company with showrooms in Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, Sth Australia and WA. To find your nearest showroom please go to our Find A Showroom page.

Yes, it is mandatory that an Electronic Brake Controller is installed to your tow vehicle in accordance with the Road Safety Regulations in Australia.
Yes, a properly designed and fitted tow bar is essential for safe towing. Your tow bar load capacity must be at least equal to the trailer’s loaded mass. The tow bar tongue should not have braces or gussets and should be rated to 350 kg.
Yes, in the unfortunate event that your tow hitch fails, the D shackles will be the only things connecting your van to your vehicle and preventing it from hurtling off on its own.
In order to tow safely and legally, you must tow within your vehicle’s towing capacity. The towing capacity is the maximum amount of weight your vehicle is able to tow, and the maximum ball weight, as recommended by the manufacturer. This information is available in your vehicle owner’s manual or via vehicle specifications information, located on the manufacturer’s website.
Please note: when calculating the towing capacity, you must take the vehicle’s onboard load into account eg. passengers, luggage, and equipment.
Yes, they are perfectly suited for the beach or bush. All SWAG campers, hybrids and off-road caravans come equipped with a single piece galvanised chassis and our off-road suspension system, featuring heavy-duty springs and off-road shocks. Our range of caravans are specifically engineered for use on the gazetted roads and tracks in Australia. However, it is important to emphasise that you must drive responsibly and adapt to the prevailing conditions. Please be aware that negligence, misuse or regular wear and tear are not eligible for claims under SWAG’s warranty conditions.
If work is required on your caravan and you believe it is covered under our warranty, you should immediately go to our warranty page and submit a warranty claim. Please note, when submitting a warranty claim it is important to include as much detail as possible. This will assist us in making a prompt and informed assessment.
A shakedown test comprises 2-3 short trips taken close to home. The purpose of the shakedown is to thoroughly assess all the systems and features of your new camper and resolve any potential issues that may arise.
Yes, as mentioned above, we recommend doing 2-3 short trips (shakedowns) where you test every feature and system in your camper thoroughly. Pressure test the plumbing, assess the electrical components under load, set up the annexe, test the hot water system, prepare meals and rigorously test items such as doors, latches and locks. This in-depth testing not only resolves any potential issues, it instils you with a better understanding of your camper and provides the confidence to head out on more adventurous journeys. Please understand, all our campers, hybrids and off-road caravans are assembled right here on the Sunshine Coast by our dedicated team. But we are only human, and despite our best efforts we acknowledge the potential for minor issues. So please, take your time during these shakedown trips, test everything thoroughly, enjoy the experience, and if any issues should arise, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Maintaining the correct tyre pressure will maximise the life of the tyres, reduce vibration through the caravan and improve stability. Over inflating tyres increases the risk of punctures, transfers more vibration to the caravan which can cause instability and sway while under tow.
Please note: There are a number of good, free tyre pressure calculators online that take load, caravan length, number of wheels and tyre information into consideration when calculating correct tyre pressure. When tyre pressures are low you risk popping the bead off the rim.
